Plovdiv Airport Set for Concession as Bulgaria Eyes Aviation Privatization
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Grozdan Karadjov, announced that a concession procedure for Plovdiv Airport will soon be initiated
Bulgaria is planning to open eight new waste waters treatment plants by the end of the year, said the country's Environmental Minister Nona Karadzhova.
She said on Monday that nine new treatment plants have opened doors in the last 18 months and they are treating more than 35 million cubic meters of waste waters.
Karadzhova pointed out that during 2011, the Environmental Ministry and the municipalities will work on projects worth more than BGN 1 B, related to the expansion of sewage systems and treatment of waste waters.
According to the minister, Bulgaria has managed to curb pollution of rivers from industrial sources. However, in her words, the problem with discharging of waste waters from sewage of settlements remains.
On Monday, Karadzhova was in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv for the opening of the international conference "Integrated Water Management on the Balkans and in Eastern Europe", dedicated to the World Water Day on March 22.
Representatives of 15 European countries will take part in the conference.
