Five Bulgarian nationals have been sentenced to four months imprisonment in France for metal theft after they cut the pole of a distribution line.

The daily newspaper in the city of Bordeaux, "Sud Ouest", reported that the theft was one of the most spectacular in the city. It took place on March 3, at the site of the old French railways.

The Bulgarians were detained and faced the court on Monday. The Prosecutor's Office demanded between 4 and 8 months imprisonment and a ban on residence in France for the five persons.
