Czech company ZS Brno completed the reconstruction of the railway section Voluyak – Vakarel on Sofia – Plovdiv line. Following its upgrade, in which Bulgarian suppliers and construction workers took part, the top speed allowed on the railway section will be 160 kilometres per hour. ZS Brno has modernized some 51 kilometres of railway lines on key destinations in Bulgaria so far. The projects, implemented within the PHARE programme, are in the volume of nearly EUR 20 M. The realized projects are said to prove the company's ambitions on the Bulgarian market. The first project of the company was the reconstruction of the Zimnitsa-Straldzha section in 2000 for about EUR 2,5 M. ZS Brno, one of the biggest Czech companies in the railway construction sector, started operating in the sixties. Alongside railway reconstruction, which is its main activity, the company also deals with road, power and environmental construction.
