The Czech government agreed on Thursday to sell a majority in national phone firm Cesky Telecom to a consortium of Deutsche Bank and Denmark's TDC in the largest private equity deal ever seen in eastern Europe. The German bank's venture offered 1.82 billion euros ($1.77 billion) for 51 percent in the largest listed Czech company. The per share price of 340 crowns is at a 26 percent premium over market value. "The cabinet appreciated that the bidders had not reduced their offer by a single euro (from June) despite the turmoil on telecoms markets," said Finance Minister Bohuslav Sobotka.
