The Cabinet will release additional BGN 40 M for settling outstanding liabilities of municipalities, under a draft regulation on the additional funds earmarked for municipal budgets, to be discussed by the Cabinet at its session today. The decision comes in the wake of the Program for gradual reduction and liquidation of the municipalities' outstanding liabilities 2002, signed by Finance Minister Velchev and the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB). The additional funding will total BGN 40,3 M, BGN 13,3 of them are planned for compensations of people with no insurance payments under the State Budget Act for 2002. Another BGN 27 M will be used for settling the debts incurred till the end of 2001.
