The social network Facebook is refuting rumors spread over the internet they will shut down the site.

In a statement, posted on their own site, Facebook say the following: "We didn't get the memo about shutting down, so we'll keep working away like always. We aren't going anywhere; we're just getting started."

The rumor was started by the puns' publishing site Weekly World News, announcing over the weekend NLO would attack the Earth in 2011 and Facebook is closing on March 15.

The site quotes Facebook Founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, saying at a press conference the stress from managing the company is destroying his health.

The rumor quickly spread on social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook itself, all while there are daily speculations Facebook might be listed on the stock exchange.
