Minister of agriculture Mehmed Dikme stated it is unlikely that the state would compensate the financial losses from the drought. Farmers demanded an emergency situation to be announced in the Dobrich region due to the unprecedented drought. According to Minister Dikme, measures should be undertaken in order such situation to be avoided in the future. In this respect, he considers extending credit lines for the development of irrigation in Dobrudja a very good idea. Most of the grain producers in Dobrudja believe that they should reschedule their payments in order to be able to harvest this year`s crop and make the autumn sowing. Otherwise the autumn sowing will be at stake, they say. Minister Dikme refused to comment on this demand before reaching an agreement with the Ministry of Finance.
