Bulgaria: 80% of Prostitutes in Germany Imported from Romania, Bulgaria

As many as 80% of all prostitutes in Germany come from the newest EU members, Romania and Bulgaria.

Most of them are involved in prostitution under compulsion.

This is stated by the German newspaper Die Welt in an article, dedicated to the German politicians' inability to cope with human trafficking and sex slavery channels from Eastern Europe.

The Bulgarians' and Romanians' trafficking in Germany has been eased, since they may legally stay there as "tourists".

"Bulgaria and Romania definitely do not do enough to eliminate the channels for human trafficking," Home Affairs Commissioner, Cecilia Malmstr?m comments as an answer to a question by Die Welt.

She underlined that children from the Roma minority are especially vulnerable to be exploited as prostitutes or pickpockets in Western Europe.
