Welcome to a Week of Bulgarian-American Relations - Ambassador Warlick
I am honored and privileged that Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) has decided to create a weeklong survey on the U.S. Embassy in Sofia and on the work done by countless Americans and Bulgarians throughout this country in support of the strong and vibrant U.S.-Bulgaria strategic partnership.
With all sincerity, I have often said that I am not only the U.S. Ambassador to the Government of Bulgaria, but I am also the U.S. Ambassador from the American people to the people of Bulgaria. I said that upon my arrival to this beautiful country in January, and I continue to say this even today. The most important successes that further our strong bilateral relationship in Bulgaria are often done on the people-to-people level.
Throughout this week, you will read stories and see photos covering a wide range of areas such as Rule of Law, Energy, Security, Culture and Education, and many more. These stories will not only be based on interviews conducted with me and my staff, but also from the Peace Corps who probably exemplify the people-to-people concept better than anyone.
I hope you find the information this week to be interesting, informative, and perhaps inspiring. And I genuinely hope the readers can take the opportunity to visit the U.S. and experience the great natural beauty of our country and meet our people similar to my travels in Bulgaria where I have experienced this country's great beauty and have met so many friendly people along the way.
James B. Warlick
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Bulgaria
