The recent wave of allegations against Bulgaria's Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov have resulted in his parting with the first slot in terms of politician popularity.

This has been a position Tsvetanov has been comfortably occupying for some months now, even surpassing his boss and Bulgaria favorite PM Boyko Borisov.

For the October rates of Mediana agency reported by Trud,  the Interior Minister has nevertheless crumbled with a total of 9 percentage points, sliding down third behind the country's PM and President.

The chart is led by President Georgi Parvanov, who has the support of some 49% of Bulgarians, followed back to back by Borisov at a difference of just 0.1 percentage points.

Deputy-PM Tsvetanov is a key figure in the cabinet and the source of hopes for many Bulgarians, with his vows and apparent successes in combating organized crime and securing the safety of citizens.

In October his public image appears to have been greatly harmed by allegations raised by notorious political party RZS that he had unlawfully acquired a string of real estate properties. This unpleasant debacle has included Bulgarian politicians throwing at each other accusations that they are connected to murky figure Aleksei Petrov.

Mediana's October ratings nevertheless establish that people still consider Tsvetanov the minister who does his job best.

Second in the ministerial ranking is Regional Development Minister Rosen Plevneliev who has marked a 7 percentage points growth in approval.

Interestingly, controversial Minister of Education Sergey Ignatov has also marked a small growth in support, around 1 percentage point.

Minister of Economy Traicho Traikov has tabled a marginal growth in support, while approval for Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov has dropped by 2 percentage points.
