At the end of the winter there has been a failure and damage at the Bulgarian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) "Kozloduy" which has been concealed by the cabinet, Former Economy and Energy Minister, Petar Dimitrov, insists.

In a declaration issued by the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), red by Dimitrov in the Parliament Friday, the opposition accused the ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party and Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, of endangering the image of the NPP with their ignorant rule.

Dimitrov claimed the recently reported damage at Kozloduy happened many months ago, and this is the time when the spare parts should have been ordered. The former Minister further accused the cabinet of causing losses to Bulgaria of BGN 10 M over missed electric power production and attempts to hide the damage from the public.

Dimitrov says statements that the spare parts for "Kozloduy" have been purchased by GERB for USD 240 000 while the former cabinet has paid USD 24 M with someone pocketing the difference are ridiculous and outrageous.

"Mr. Borisov, such insinuations can cause a huge international scandal with Russia because the latter had negotiated and received USD 24 M. And the contract has not been signed by the socialist-led Three-Way Coalition, but in 2004, during the term of the National Movement for Prosperity and Stability (NMSP) of former Tsar and PM, Simeon Saxe-Coburg when you were the Chief Secretary of the Interior, so you are the one, who must explain the corruption scam, if there was any," the former Minister pointed out.
