Home Sweet Home: The Reality of Housing in Bulgaria Revealed
New data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) sheds light on the housing landscape in Bulgaria, painting a picture of the majority of Bulgarians residing in older homes.
The biggest advantage of Facebook is that it allows you to constantly keep in touch with your family and friends, the Vice President of the social network, Blake Chandlee, said.
In an interview for the Bulgarian private TV channel bTV on Thursday, Chandlee explained that the purpose of Facebook is to make communication between people faster and more effective. He said that the social network could not prevent people from going out and meeting their friends.
Chandlee is in Bulgaria to participate in the second edition of Webit Expo & Conference, the biggest event for digital business and marketing in Central Eastern Europe, that is taking place in Sofia, October 27-29.
Plamen Rusev, the forum organizer, has also agreed with the Facebook VP that it is better for people, especially celebrities, to have personal profiles in the social network than having someone else doing it on their behalf.
"The social networks are not more special than anything else that is happening. Communication is happening since the world exists. However, technology managed to redirect it to the social networks. There, you are the same person that you are here and now. We can meet here and we can meet in the social network," Rusev said.
Chandlee added that it was natural for the same things that happen today to happen tomorrow, only on different devices.
He explained that one day people will be able to see on their TV what their friends are watching, or they can enter their car and say that they want to go to Annie's house and have an immediate information on whether she is home.
Chandlee also stated that it was important for people to realize that they can control what is being displayed on their profiles. He said that they could control which people they want to communicate with and what part of their profile is accessible to other users.
Rusev has explained that 2011 will set the beginning of training programs for people who earn a living online. The programs, which will be under the Webit Ambassadors structure, will be held in Bulgaria and other Central Eastern European countries.
