The Bulgarian Members of the Parliament rejected Wednesday the proposal of conservative leader, Yane Yanev, to hold a hearing of Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov.
The leader of the Order, Law and Justice (RZS) party requested the hearing over the detention of a reporter and a driver of the Bulgarian paper Galeriya when the two attempted to do a research on properties of the Interior Minister in the village of Shuma.
Yanev told reporters the automobile of the journalist was followed and asked Tsvetanov to explain how the police knew the route of the car, adding it was in the Minister's best interest to answer all questions in order to dismiss the impression he is using the institution he leads for personal goals.
Meanwhile, the arrested "Galeriya" reporter told Darik radio the village woman, who called the emergency 112 hotline, was planted by the police to keep an eye on Tsvetanov's properties. He said that the other villagers were calm, and willing to talk, adding it became obvious people who visit the Minister's village are considered violators of the public order.
