Not a Destination, But a Beginning': Europe's Elite Gather in Sofia as Bulgaria Prepares for Euro Era
High-level conference marks final stretch before Bulgaria becomes 21st eurozone member on January 1, 2026

For three days Webit Expo & Conference 2010 will make Bulgaria the hot spot for marketing, advertising and Internet.
The biggest event for digital business and marketing in Central-Eastern Europe will take place October 27-29 in the National Palace of Culture in the Bulgarian capital. It is expected to have 5,000 visitors, exhibitors and 80 top speakers and lecturers from all over the world.
Among the lecturers in this year's edition of the expo will be Vice President at Facebook, Blake Chandlee, Vice President at BBC Worldwide, Tom Bowman, Director at Yahoo, Marvin Liao, and other presidents, vice presidents and directors at the world's biggest, as well as regional, companies, like eBay, Yandex, Grey, Monster, Microsoft and more than 70 others.
Webit is a forum, focused on marketing and advertising. In thee days, professionals will be able to discuss and listen to lectures on online advertising and marketing, reputation management, marketing in the social media, successful sales on the Internet, planning and accounting the effect of online advertising among others.
During the Webit 2010 Master Classes, Martin Newman and Rand Fishkin will share lots of practical tips and hints.
"Digital marketing is the marketing of the 21st century. More than 50% of the Bulgarian population is online. In the big cities, the percentage reaches 65%. If a company is not active online, it is as if it does not exist on the market for one big group of consumers," said Plamen Rusev, the forum organizer.
Rusev is Chair of e-Academy, a Sofia-based international education institute, which holds a governmental license for professional vocation center in the fields of management and digital marketing.
e-Academy is the organizer of Webit, e-Business & e-Marketing Expo and Conference for Central and Eastern Europe. The first edition of Webit took place in Sofia in October 2009.
