The Vice President of Bulgarian labor union KNSB (Confederation of Independent Bulgarian Syndicates), Plamen Dimitrov, was elected the union's temporary President.
Dimitrov will hold the post until the 7th KNSB Congress in 2012. The unanimous election was made Tuesday by the union's Coordination Council.
"Under my leadership, KNSB will continue to use expert knowledge and advice along with exerting balanced and timely pressure. Our priorities now are to guarantee and expand workers' rights and to fight the gray economy," Dimitrov said upon hearing the news.
Plamen Dimitrov was born in 1963 in the Danube city of Ruse.
In 1989, he graduated from the Naval Academy in the Black Sea city of Varna and later enrolled in the Plovdiv University in the Master's program "Human Resources Management," which he completed in 1999.
In 1991 – 1993, Dimitrov served as the Varna KNSB Coordinator, in 1993 – 1997 – as KNSB Executive Secretary. He was elected as the union's Vice President in 1997.
Dimitrov is married and has one daughter.
