Former German international star Lothar Matthaeus, who recently took charge of the Bulgarian national team, has emerged on a ranking of the Bild daily for the funniest nonsense saying of the year in Germany.
"I want no part in the speculations about me," Matthaeus snapped when asked about his personal life, making his way to the infamous list.
Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal is said to be most likely to climb to the top of the list with a confident description of his work and skills: "I am a smart coach. I train more for the brains than for the legs. This is difficult for some players."
Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel made his mark thanks to a statement prior to the team clash with Bayer by saying: "What would help us is a quick goal and a quick final whistle, and maybe we can even park the team bus in front of our goal."
Lothar Matthaeus is well known for his famous sayings and a coaching career, which hasn't come close to emulating his glory days on the pitch.
His next challenge will be to try to salvage Bulgaria's hopes of qualifying for Euro 2012.
