A light earthquake was registered in southern Bulgaria Sunday evening, the Seismological Center of the Geophysical Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences reports.
The epicenter is some 270 km souteast of the Bulgarian capital Sofia, 54 km southeast from the city of Stara Zagora, and 17 km northwest from the town of Topolovgrad.
The 2.7-point magnitude on the Richter scale shock was felt around 8:54 pm. The epicenter is 2 km under the ground surface.
There are no reports of injuries or material damage,
Bulgaria has seen increased seismologic activity lately, with the strongest one (3.5) registered last week in the capital Sofia.
