RODOPA INVEST FAILED TO PAY BACK SALARIES
Business | July 25, 2001, Wednesday // 00:00
The amount of BGN 492,786 has been extended to the Madan municipality few days prior to the elections for buying the museum of mining, the Crystal Hall and a few sports sites from the privatised mining entity Gorubso. Thus the municipality had to acquire some property, and the sales receipts had to be used by the private investor for paying part of the back salaries due to the Gorubso miners. Despite these agreements Rodopa Investment, which acquired Gorubso of Madan and the Rudozem-based flotation factory, failed to pay the salaries to the protesting miners. Madan mayor Valentin Gadzhev demands an audit to be conducted by the control authorities to check how the amount has been utilized and why the miners have not been paid.
