The London Bulgarian Choir will be heading for its second ever tour of Bulgaria in August, its website announced.

The London Bulgarian Choir will be performing at the famous folk festival in the town of Koprivshtitsa Saturday evening, August 7, 2010.

On August 8, it is going to sing on the central square in the city of Plovdiv, followed by a performance in Stara Zagora on the 10th.

After that, on August 12, the London Bulgarian Choir will participate in the jazz festival in the mountain resort of Bansko.

The first ever Bulgarian tour of the choir was in 2005 when 40 of its members visited Sofia, the villages of Trigrad and Gela in the Rhodope Mountains, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and Ruse, and were met with much acclaim by the Bulgarian audience. This time, however, the London Bulgarian Choir will bring an even larger group to Bulgaria.

Many of the songs that the choir will be performing during its second tour to Bulgaria have been written by composer Kiril Todorov; they have jazz elements that appeal to the UK audience, and have been sponsored by the BBC.

The new songs will be performed for the first time in Bulgaria, and will then be released in an album in the UK.

The London Bulgarian Choir is a unique group of singers coming from around the world and inspired by Bulgarian folklore. It was founded in 2000 by Dessislava Stefanova, former member of the Philip Koutev Bulgarian Folk Ensemble, and has registered a number of successful performances in the UK as well as joint projects with other British performers.
