Bulgaria’s Justice Minister, Margarita Popova, informed Saturday very soon citizens will be able to file claims with the country’s own Human Right Court instead of the European one.
The new court will strictly adhere to deadlines of issuing rulings on human rights cases and will compensate those whose rights are deemed violated.
In a TV interview, Popova informed the move has been included as a recommendation in the last European Commission’s report on justice and home affairs through the so-called Co-operation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) over the more and more frequent Bulgarian claims filed with the Strasburg Court.
In addition to this top priority, another important task before the Justice Ministry now is the introduction of the unified information system with online updates about each case.
The EC recommendations will be carried out professionally and in timely manner, Popova vowed.
