Will Bulgaria Have a Stable Government After Yet Another Election in June? Our Readers Have Spoken
On our Facebook page, readers were asked about Bulgaria's stability after the June elections
Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov has voiced optimism about the outcome of the Euro qualification match between Bulgaria and England, saying his team can upset the Three Lions.
“I hope it could be like that, but it could just as easily be the worst time to meet them because there will be new players looking to make an impact," Petrov told the Mirror.
Bulgaria will clash with England in the first Euro 2012 qualifying programme on September 3 in London.
“I’m looking forward to it, and I’ve no doubt Capello will make quite a few changes. So we know we will need to be ready tactically and mentally,” he added, referring to the plans of the England boss Fabio Capello to call some new players in the team line-up.
Commenting on the lackluster performance of the English team at the World Cup tournament in South Africa, Petrov said he was not surprised because of the amount of games the players had played.
“Every single country has a winter break, they have two or three weeks at Christmas and New Year, but in that time the English probably play 11 or 12 games and that’s really hard for them.
“They are human. You can see Wayne Rooney and how he was outstanding during the season, but then in the World Cup he wasn’t sharp at all. But if you understand the amount of games he played in the season I think it’s normal.”
