Former South African President and emblematic anti-apartheid campaigner Nelson Mandela attended the World Cup award ceremony in Johannesburg.
The 91-year-old Mandela made an appearance with his wife Graca Machel. The two were driven across the field in a golf cart amidst the cheers of the some 90 000 spectators at the Soccer City Stadium.
Earlier on Sunday, his grandson Mandla Mandela said FIFA had piled up pressure on his famous grandfather to attend.
