German Chancellor Angela Merkel expects a 2:1 victory for her country in the World Cup semi-final against Spain Wednesday night.

Merkel, who is an ardent supporter of the German national football team, told N24 TV that she expects a very hard game against the Spanish but that she will be keeping her fingers crossed forecasting a 2:1 win, which would allow Germany to face the Netherlands in the final on July 11.

Merkel recently changed her schedule in order to watch Germany’s quarter-final match in which the mannschaft defeated Argentina 4:0.

Germany and Spain are playing in South Africa late Wednesday night; in the first semi-final Tuesday the Netherlands beat Uruguay 3:2.
