Cases of Violence Against Doctors in Bulgaria Are Growing

Only 47% of the Bulgarian population knows the purpose of the emergency telephone number 112, the Interior Ministry has announced.
A national poll for the emergency telephone system with a single European number, 112, has reporter that young people in the age group between 18-29 and employed and active people in the age between 40 and 49 are informed the most about the purpose of emergency number.
People with higher educational degrees, people who live in Sofia and in other big cities, and people who have a higher standard of living also fall in the group of well-informed.
59% of the respondents said that 112 is active in all 27 EU member states, while 12% believe it is used only in Bulgaria.
The results from the poll show that every fifth Bulgarian adult is not informed about the existence of the emergency telephone system.
12% of the respondents said they did not know 112 existed, while 8% claim they knew about it but did not know what its purpose was.
The European Commission has requested a reinforcement the promotion of the emergency telephone number 112 during the summer.
In response to this request, “National System 112” has stated informational projects, which include distributing stickers and displaying videos at public places with a high concentration of people. They will inform the citizens about the purpose, function, and range of the emergency number.
The initiative will continue until the end of the summer.
