NATO TO CONDUCT EXERCISE ON THE BLACK SEA COAST

Foreign combat ships called at the Bay of Burgas Saturday to take part in a Bulgarian Navy exercise codenamed `Breeze 2001` under NATO`s Partnership for Peace Initiative. The exercise will be conducted in the southwestern part of the Black Sea under the command of the Chief of Bulgarian Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Peter Petrov, until Saturday, July 28. The participants will drill at sea embargo, humanitarian and rescue operations. A total of 2,500 officers and sailors will be taking part, including 800 foreign servicemen. France, Greece, Italy and the United States will contribute one ship each, Turkey-four, and Bulgaria-13.
