Boyko Borisov Votes with a Paper Ballot: Is there a Functioning Machine, or Have They Run Out?
Boyko Borisov chose to cast his vote with a paper ballot in Bankya today.
Bulgaria's right-wing Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) will support the nomination of the ruling GERB party for Health Minister.
The statement was made Tuesday by Martin Dimitrov, co-Chair of the Blue Coalition and leader of one of its two parties – UDF.
The “Blues” however point out their support comes with conditions and would be withdrawn immediately if the candidate of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party, Anna-Maria Borisova makes a single attempt to cover up shady deals of the former, socialist-led cabinet, to place corporate interests above the public ones, or to accuse doctors and patients for the current health care crisis.
Dimitrov further explained they decided to back GERB over the urgent need of a health care reform, Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov's personal commitment towards the nomination and the UDF allegiance to the European People's Party (EPP) – both UDF and GERB are EPP members.
The right wing changed their mind about Borisova twice already.
Last Wednesday, Prof. Anna-Maria Borisova appeared before the Coalition's parliamentary group, composed of Members of the Parliaments from UDF and Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB).
“For now, the Coalition accepts Borisova's ideas for health care reform and deems her performance better than her initial media appearances,” MP Vanyo Sharkov said then, pointing out her strong will and desire for reform. On Friday, however, the Coalition retracted their support over Borisova's refusal to publicly declare her program.
