BEARINGS FACILITY SALE POSTPONED

Business | July 20, 2001, Friday // 00:00

The sale of the bearings facility of the Sopot-based VMZ military works to the Swedish company SKF was postponed for formal reasons, the Privatisation agency announced. The cadastral layout of the plant has been classified, and the Agency cannot present it to the potential buyer at this particular moment. The work on declassifying the layout is under way. `Consultations with the Ministry of Environment showed that we need some 80 days to complete this preparatory work`, officials from the Privatisation Agency stated. Insiders commented that the true reason for shifting the deal with 80 days is a memo from the parliamentary group of the King`s movement to the Agency requesting that it should abstain from making final decisions days before the new cabinet assumes power. The PA commented that it understands and respects the request and will adhere to it.
