HACKERS TO BE IMPOSED PENALTIES

Fine of BGN 2,000 to 3,000 and 1 to 2 years in prison envisages a bill of amendments to the Penal Code, drafted by Mihail Mikov from Coalition for Bulgaria. The penalty shall be imposed on hackers who change or delete computer programmes or data. If the offence aims at deriving property benefits, the hacker should be sentenced to prison for up to three years and a fine of up to BGN 5,000, the bill envisages. A fine of up to BGN 3,000 is proposed for distributors of computer viruses and between 1 and 6 years in prison and a fine of up to BGN 10,000-for people who destroy or damage other people`s property by hacking their computers.
