A former economic and financial advisor to President (2002-2012) Georgi Parvanov has been elected head of his ABV party, local media report.
Bulgaria President Georgi Parvanov has welcomed the amendments to the GMO Act adopted by Parliament on Thursday, which in effect ban the cultivation of GM crops in the country.
"Under the pressure of numerous civil protests and as a result of the my expressed position to veto any non stringent amendments and to call for a referendum, ultimately, it was a reasonable decision," said Parvanov.
