In addition to the traditional programs running in Plovdiv and Burgas, the festival will visit over 10 other Bulgarian cities, including Blagoevgrad, Stara Zagora, Ruse, Sliven, Gabrovo, Haskovo, Kurjali and Lovetch.
Since its inception, the festival has screened over 1 600 feature films and documentaries. More than 1 000 guests from the world have attended the events.
This year, composer Bojidar Petkov, the creator of "Sacco & Vanzetti" Giuliano Montaldo, five-time Oscar nominee Jan Troell, British director Tony Palmer and Russian legend Sergei Solvyov, will each receive the Sofia Municipality Award for their contribution to cinema.
The jury will be presided over by the eminent cinema critic, Pierre Henri Deleau, Festival Director Stefan Kitanov announced. Actress Teodora Douhovnikova will represent Bulgaria on the jury.
The event is organized by ArtFest in conjunction with the Municipality of Sofia and in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, NDK, the National Film Centre and Bulgarian National Television, in addition to several other multinational cultural sponsors.
