The Bulgaria-Turkey border has again been closed due to flooding after intense rainfall in the region on Monday.

The Kapitan Andreevo border crossing was closed completely at 04:30 Tuesday morning, after only being open for trucks since Monday evening due to an increasing level of the flood waters. On Saturday the border crossing was also closed due to floods.

Meanwhile, 30 towns and villages in the Smolyan, Madan and Devin regions of Soputh Bulgaria have been left without electricity after heavy rain and an increase in melt water from the regions’ mountains.

6 villages in the area (Ribni Dol, Dve Topoli, Boevo, Mochurda, Belitsa and Mugla) have been completely cut off after the access roads were flooded.
