Heavy snowfall has led a total of 12 Bulgarian municipalities in the northeastern part of the country to declare a state of emergency.

Those are Tutrakan, Sitovo, Glavinitsa, Alfatar, Dulov, and Kaynardzha in the Silistra District; Ivanovo, Borovo, Dve Mogili, Slivo Pole in the Ruse District; and Isperih and Samuil in the Razgrad District.

The situation in all of Northeastern Bulgaria is complicated by the heavy snowfall creating a lot of work for emergency rescue teams.

Disruptions have been caused in Southern and Southeastern Bulgaria as well but by the rainfall there which has caused a number of smaller rivers to flood adjacent areas and minor roads.
