SOCIALISTS OPPOSE REVISION OF CONSTITUTION

`Coalition For Bulgaria believes that the Constitution should not be revised`, the Socialists` Deputy Floor Leader Kornezov said, commenting on the idea of Yunal Lyutfi of the ethnic Turks` Movement that the Constitution should be revised to reflect the fact that there are minorities in Bulgaria and it is no longer a single-nation state. `Bulgaria has always been a unitary state, and proposals in this direction are unacceptable not only from the viewpoint of the parliamentary group but for the country as well`, Kornezov added. According to him the only amendments in the Constitution that should be done are connected with the integration of Bulgaria with the EU. He noted that neither the European Union nor any other international organization has so far raised the question about a revision of the Bulgarian Constitution, and any hasty decision to revise certain clauses would be more damaging than beneficial.
