`The idea of changing the Bulgarian ethnic model poses certain risks to this country and should be subject to a very serious discussion`, Nadezhda Mihaylova, deputy chair of the UDF, said referring to statements by senior members of the Bulgarian ethnic Turks` Movement for Rights and Freedoms. Being a country holding accession talks with the EU, Bulgaria has an established ethnic model and strives to apply the European models, not the Bosnian, Macedonian, or any other models. According to Mihaylova, the idea for changing the ethnic model is being actively promoted in the public space. The UDF demanded to hear the official stand of the Simeon II National Movement on the proposals for amendments to the Constitution and asked whether such amendments were object of any agreements between the SNM and the MRF.
