Bulgarian ‘Economic Police’ have raided the head office of the State Fund ‘Agriculture’ in Sofia to check for signs of abuse and unlawful use of funds.
The police, along with local prosecutors, entered the Fund’s office Wednesday morning after the Agriculture Ministry alerted police regarding a conflict of interests of 6 experts from the payment agency of the Fund.
The Agriculture Ministry confirmed that will assist law enforcement in their full examination of the SAPARD Agency.
Sofia City Prosecutor, Nikolay Kokinov, confirmed that the economic police are in full control of the Fund’s offices and that the action is part of a “hunt for white-collar” workers.
