The high water level in the Danube is continuing to worry local Lom residents in North Bulgaria after on Monday it was measured at 7,05 meters and is expected to rise at least 20 cm over the coming days.

"The construction of quay walls on the banks of the Danube, to protect our town had to be completed by the end of last year, but it did not happen because of funding problems. This project is of particular importance,” Lom Mayor Dimitar Petkov stated Tuesday.
Petkov concluded by saying that he hoped the project would be finished in 2010 and that the weather would be kind to the town until then.
