The Bulgaria section of the Danube River has not been included among the views that accompanied one of the biggest musical performances in the world - the Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert 2010 from the Musikverein.

Bulgaria was not on the list of sites that illustrated Johann Strauss II´s „Blue Danube Waltz“, featuring German royal palaces and breath-taking scenery from Austria, Budapest, Novi Sad, Romania, BGNES news agency reported.

Local media were quick to comment the hopefully inadvertent omission, saying that even three years after the county’s accession to the European Union, Bulgaria is not a partner on a par with the other members of the bloc, a fact that stirs heated debates.

The Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert was led for the second time by Pretre and was broadcasted to 72 countries around the globe.

It's a tradition that goes back to a dark period in Austria's history, the Second World War. The lively array of polkas and waltzes was designed to remind a local audience of better times.

Today, the concert's joyful and optimistic feel helps set the mood for the year ahead for millions of radio listeners.
