NORWAY TO OPEN EMBASSY IN SOFIA
Politics | July 18, 2001, Wednesday // 00:00
`Norway plans to open an embassy in Sofia`, Lyubomir Todorov, who is in charge the bilateral consular relations, said after meeting Arnt Rindol, Norwegian Ambassador to Romania. According to Rindol the emigration of Bulgarian Roma form the Rousse region and the submission of political asylum applications by them does not contravene Norwegian law. It will not result in an action to re-introduce visa requirements for Bulgarians. `The asylum applications were considered and rejected as groundless`, he said. Norway paid for 81 Bulgarian Roma to be returned to their home country on Monday. It is very likely that Norway will repatriate more Bulgarian Roma next Monday in groups of 100 via Hemus Air again.
