In January, Dimitar Manchev, a favorite theater and movie actor of several generations of Bulgarians, died in Sofia at the age of 74.

In March, Prominent Bulgarian meteorologist, Latin Latinov, passed away at the age of 63.

In April 16, the world-known Bulgarian surgeon, Dimitar Shoilev, died at the age of 73 in Sofia.

Also in April, Victor Paskov, one of the most successful Bulgarian writers, passed away just months before turning 60.

In May. Petar Slabakov, one of Bulgaria's most prominent actors and fighters for democracy, passed away at the age of 86.

Also in May, 43-year-old football coach, Antoly Kirilov, dies in a road accident.

In May, the Mayor of the Bulgarian town of Radnevo, Noncho Vodenicharov, dies on an island in the Philippines, during the TV reality show "Survivor”.

In June, the renowned Bulgarian history professor and writer Vera Mutafchieva passed away at the Government Hospital in Sofia at the age of 80.

In June, Bulgaria's prominent literary scholar and critic, Professor Encho Mutafov, passed away at the age of 66.

In July, wrestler Nikola Stanchev, Bulgaria's first Olympic champion, passed away at the age of 78.

In August, prominent journalist Zhivka Gicheva dies in a car accident close to Bulgaria's Turgovishte.

Also in August, Bulgaria's former Deputy Prime Minister and Industry Minister in 1997-1999, Alexander Bozhkov, died at the age of 58.

In November, Jeanne-Claude, artist and wife Bulgarian-born Christo dies in New York at 74.

In December, the Director of the Bulgarian National Military History Museum Petko Yotov passed away at the age of 62.

Also in December, Professor Krikor Azaryan, a prominent Bulgarian theater director and lecturer, dies at 75 following a battle with a cancer.
