A snow cover of 3-25cm has carpeted many areas of Bulgaria overnight Saturday, with temperatures expected to drop further over the weekend.
East and North Bulgaria have been reported to be the worst affected but most regions woke up to a light snow cover and temperatures between 1oC and -5 oC.
There have been reports of transport problems and the Bulgarian police reported that some roads are closed for heavy vehicles in the country. They warned drivers to be careful.
The snow is expected to stop falling later Saturday and temperatures are expected to drop to around -9oC on Sunday.
