Former Bulgaria Interior Minister and socialist Coalition for Bulgaria MP, Rumen Petkov, has stated that any connections made between him and the “Krasio from Pleven” judiciary scandal are pure speculation.

Petkov was speaking after on Friday one of the Bulgarian magistrates involved in the case, the candidate to become Chair of the Pleven Regional Court - Rumen Lazarov, admitted wrongdoing and added further that Krasimir Georgiev aka Krasio had called him to inquire “about a case involving people close to the socialist MP Kiril Dobrev,” and that after the call he informed Petkov.

Petkov replied that he had told Lazarov that it was absurd to claim that Dobrev was seeking a similar manner to influence the judiciary. He also denied that he personally knew Krasio.

“Even then, I told Rumen Lazarov to inform the relevant authorities in the judicial system regarding what happened,” Petkov, who was Pleven Mayor at the time, concluded
