An article titled “Bulgaria Stabs Us in the Back Once Again” was published Saturday in the Serbian daily “Politika,” the Bulgarian news agency BGNES reports.
The Serbian delegation to The Hague, led by Dusan Batakovic, believes that by defending Kosovo’s independence, Bulgaria has stabbed Serbia in the back as it did many times throughout history while countries like Brasilia and Bolivia had appealed for adhering to the international order rules.
The hearings about the independence of Kosovo started on December 1. A year ago, Kosovo was announced as a independent area. The International Court of Justice will review Kosovo Independence. The hearings, to run until 11 December, will address the question of the accordance with international law of the unilateral declaration of independence by the provisional institutions of self-government of Kosovo.
The Serbian publication reminds that the Bulgarian representative, Zlatko Dimitrov, who had supported Kosovo’s independence at The Hague, had been part of the team of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the future status process for Kosovo, Martti Ahtisaari, deemed the major factor that gave Pristina the “green light” for declaring its independence.
“Even Albania had a more tamed anti-Serbian position than Dimitrov,” “Politika” writes.
The Serbian delegation counts mostly on the support of China, Russia, Spain, Cyprus and Romania.
