Traffic on the southwest Bulgaria-Macedonia road between the city of Kyustendil and the Gyueshevo crossing point has begun to move again at 18:15 on Tuesday.

The roads had been completely blocked earlier in the day, as the swollen Bistritsa river had damaged two road bridges.

Emergency repair work has been completed. One of the road lanes has been strengthened, and on the other traffic can move in both directions, the Interior Ministry press center has announced

Emergency workers have installed concrete blocks so that the road section will not be further damaged.

Speed restrictions have been put in effect. Priority has been given to vehicles entering Bulgaria.

Additional police and safety personnel have ensured specific protection of the areas near the two bridges damaged earlier in the day.
