Bulgaria’s Transport Ministry has submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office four reports on large-scale violations committed by the previous administration.

Transport Minister, Alexander Tsvetkov, said Thursday that the team of his predecessor, Petar Mutafchiev, committed the violations in question purposefully.

The first violation is a scam with the purchase and sale of railway cars by the state railway companies: relatively new cars have been sold to one firm at a secret auction for about EUR 30 000 each, whereas older cars have been bought for about EUR 550 000 each.

The second reported crime at the Transport Ministry has to do with the deal for the Targovishte Airport where real estate property worth BGN 1,4 M has been sold for BGN 400 000.

The third violation concerns the Burgas Port where funds have been siphoned off through contracts without public procurement procedures and at higher-than-market prices. Tsvetkov mentioned there was evidence for similar violations over the purchase of airplanes.

The fourth violation has to do with Bulgaria’s only sea rescue operations ship, the Perun, which has been leased to private companies that totally damaged it.
