Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, welcomed Friday night Macedonian with Bulgarian passport Spaska Mitrova.
Borisov welcomed Mitrova on Bulgarian soil in the southwest town of Sandanski, which is close to Mitrova’s native town of Gevgeliya in Macedonia.
Mitrova thanked Borisov and everyone in Bulgaria for the huge support that she received while going through her ordeal with the Macedonian authorities.
“Macedonia is foreign to me. I want to take my child and go where I belong,” Mitrova said during her meeting with Borisov.
Yet, she is still not sure what she will do after she moves to Bulgaria. The 23-year-old mother has a degree in English from the Southwestern University in Bulgaria’s Blagoevgrad. Earlier on Friday, Bulgaria’s Diaspora Minister, Bozhidar Dimitrov, said Mitrova could join his administration.
“Her diploma is not recognized in Macedonia but is recognized in Bulgaria and I am committed to finding her a job,” Borisov said.
Mitrova is going to Sofia where she will be staying at the residence of the Bulgarian government in the Boyana Quarter.
“We barely held our tongues all this time. With all due respect to Macedonia’s justice system and its politicians, but putting this girl in jail – let it weigh on their conscience. It is essential that in every situation Bulgarians feel the support of their state,” Borisov declared.
