Bulgarian documentary 'Media and Access to Information', which follows the investigative stories of journalists who uncover corruption in the government machinery, kickstarted the first international Right to Information (RTI) Film Festival in New Delhi, India.
The five-day event will screen a number of movies detailing how common man in the country is using RTI as a tool to get things done. The festival will see 44 entries from countries like Bulgaria, North Korea, South Africa, Bangladesh and Switzerland.
"The first Right to Information festival is a very good step because it will show people of our country how other nations have used the right to get information and we can learn through their experiences," Wajahat Habibullah, Central Chief Information Commissioner said after inaugurating the festival.
"Our RTI law is the most powerful in the world and our neighbouring countries like Bhutan, Bangaladesh and Nepal are planning to bring out laws modelled on our RTI," Habibullah added.
