The Scottish ‘Dumfries and Galloway Standard’ has become tangled in a British ex-pat feud that  involves alleged blackmail, the Bulgarian tax authorities, assault and animal cruelty.

Novinite.com has discovered that after printing an interview on September 17 about a struggling Scottish couple and their “catalogue of disasters” in Bulgaria they started to receive complaints and the writer of the article issued an apology.

The feud itself began when Rachel Gawith, a British woman living in the Stara Zagora region, allegdely allowed the Scottish couple to stay in her villa. She later accused them of blackmail, theft and damage to her property.

The couple, Ian and Gail, replied to the allegations by saying that they had reported Gawith to the National Revenue Agency and that they had not been paid for work they had done for her. They also accused her of animal cruelty and said that she had signed herself into a mental institution.
