There is no evidence of people having been burried under the rubble of the building collapsed in downtown Prague Friday evening.

This has been announced by the the Bulgarian ambassador in Prague, Zdravko Popov, as the investigation on the accident continues.

The region around the building is still closed and cleaning of the rubble is still under way. However, there has not been yet issued any information on whether are casualties, and their nationality.

Czech media even suppose that there are even no people buried under the rubble, Popov said.

“There was one worker who managed to escape the building before it collapsed. He gave the signal that there may be still people under the rubble. Nothing has been proven yet. Czech institutions cannot give any certain information. It is possible that there are no Bulgarians at all, but no one can confirm that”, he explained.

Two safety helmets have been found during the rescue operations after the collapse of a four-storey building.

There are machines that clean up the rubble. There are police patrols, ambulances and special dogs that are trained to find people trapped under debris.

The police work on two versions for the incident: the fist one is disbalance of carrier beams of the first stories of the building, and second one is about careless mistake on the upper stories, which caused collapse from the top down-wards.
