A monument of the Italian revolutionary, Giuseppe Garibaldi, will be raised in Bulgaria capital, Sofia, before the visit of the Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi.
The proposal, which comes from the Italian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Stefano Benazzo, will be discussed Thursday by the Sofia city council.
The monument will be constructed at the Garibaldi square in downtown Sofia. The reason for building it is the official Visit of Italy's Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, to Bulgaria in October, and the 130th anniversary of the Bulgarian-Italian diplomatic relations.
The Italian Embassy in Bulgaria will cover all the expenses on the project, Ambassador Benazzo announced.
Silvio Berlusconi is going to visit Bulgaria on October 15. The information was reported earlier in September by Foreign Minister, Rumiana Jeleva.
The EP President, Jerzy Buzek, will also visit Bulgaria before the year's end, Jeleva reported, adding Bulgaria PM, Boyko Borisov, on his part, will travel to France and Germany.
