THE WORLD Bank has extended the term of the loan agreement with the Bulgarian State Railways by another year, until June 30, 2002, BDZ`s Gergana Ivanova told Agency Balkan. The credit provided by the WB amounts to USD 95 million.

BALKAN Airlines has signed an agreement with Britain`s Virgin Atlantic for joint operation of the Sofia-New York/Chicago and Sofia-Johannesburg destinations. Balkan will provide transportation
to London, where Virgin Atlantic will take the passengers.

A COMPLAINT for termination of the privatisation procedure and the signing of an agreement for Iliantsi Commodity Market with the exclusive buyer, Trakiya Commercial Centre of Plovdiv, was filed at the Supreme Administrative Court by A&I on July 13. A&I, the management-and-employee company which was turned down, claims procedural breaches.

THE NUMBER of foreign tourists in Bulgaria increased 25% to 307,454 in June, compared to the same month last year, the economy ministry
reported. The number of German tourists was 66% higher. The overall number of foreign tourists for the first half of this year increased
14% year on year, and stood at 1,059,533.

THE FIRST international exhibition titled Expo Balkanika starts in Varna on July 23. It will continue until August 1 and will be held under the auspices of the city`s mayor, Kiril Yordanov.
